Our native British squirrel, sadly repressed by the Victorians.
With the introduction of the Grey Squirrel, a non-native, pox carrying, more dominant species.
The Red’s were pushed back into odd pockets across Wales and Scotland.
Now, finally, they thrive in more areas. Anglesey does wonders for them.
With the species support of the Pine Marten, that also supports our Red’s population.
This painting is of its full fluffiness, surely the most beautiful of our creatures.
