Where I used to live, every year the parent birds would bring their new brood to visit the peanut feeder.
Just for a while. Then they returned to the dense woodlands around for insects.
Of course we often only ever hear their drumming, never able to spot them.
Striking colours attract the artist in me, bright scarlet red splashes to play with.
